LIFE'S WATER

When through her mercurial waves
we rode
she would rage
and only simmer when twilight sings

Woe! betide they that flutter-
round her shallow floor
for there lies her fierce chloer
and her wildest flaws

Dear sailor,
row your boat gently down her stream
carefully, carefully,
for she doth loose her seams

I have vowed never to surf in her shallow shores
but deep plunges to dare
at the soul of her course
riding, sailing, rowing

Boldly in the hurdles of her character
drowned in the magic of her essence
till i disappear
beyond her fathomless belly

SONG OFHOPE- for Mrs Adedipe

too hasty i was
in requiem to quench a soul
when yond the silky clouds
lies the hope of a miracle

hear O Lord!!!
the cries of wary souls
the shriek of small voices
the platter of tiny feet

they cry aloud
from the depth of empty souls
for when love comes through a door
death flees thro the window

like the silky garments of Dorcas
her smile embellishes our soul
perchance she soars amongst us
in spiritus, watching, wishing

quicken those placid flesh
and let the infants dance around
a honor to your supremacy
a memoir of your ageless fortitude

LIFE IS FICKLE AND TRANSIENT, WE ARE HERE TODAY AND TOMORROW HISTORY
BUT WHEN THAT HAPPENS THE QUESTION IS:
WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO THE WORLD?
HOW MANY LIVES HAVE WE IMPARTED?
HOW MUCH LOVE HAVE WE SHARED?
FOR LIKE THE POPULAR HYMN SAYS: FADING AWAY LIKE THE STARS OF THE MORNING... ONLY REMEMBERED BY WHAT WE HAVE DONE.
WAKE UP TODAY AND DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO TODAY, LIVE IN THE MOMENT, LOVE AND ENJOY BEING LOVED BECAUSE LIFE IS A TRANSIENT JOURNEY AND WHEN YOURS ENDS, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU LEAVE BEHIND A TRAIL OF LOVE AND HAPPINESS

REQUIEM- Dedicated to Mrs Adedipe

Fading away like the stars of the morning
loosing light in the field of blood
thus she passed forced on the blacksail
her voice echoing in our world

i have seen from afar the ferry go
and wondered at her cruel form
but never have i stared so close
as the dark cloak enveloped a soul

we are but punctuations in time
when we go, she just flows
on and on to the next boring stop
some long, some short but all go

oh! the vanity
the inane cry of hungry souls
the sweat splattered on vain soils
the battles wrecked over barns

but their tiny feet shall echo her needs
where tears go unheard
their tiny voices will blare
and in time they shall mock time

but when i go
perhaps in a blaze of glory it seems
let my love resonate like a song
and my passion like a halo

in these words your soul is cremated
your moments shall echo through every rhyme
and hearts shall no longer forget
the moments you graced our hearts

UPDATE!!!

Good morning readers
First let me apologize for the lateness of this message
it was due to some reasons that i cannot disclose here online
TO THE NEWS>>>
GUESS WHAT?
I came out 7th in the recently concluded Mobile bookshelf poetry competition and its all thanks to you guys
I know what you are thinking
WHY NOT FIRST?
My answer is:
wait for it...
Thanks all thesame
IT CAN ONLY GET BETTER

EUREKA MOMENTS

An entire lifetime can be fitted into a moment
when each moment is punctuated
by experiences and thoughts
resonating with erstwhile emotions

A pint of blood it took
where a thousand rams failed
and like the Nile it flowed
its source interminable

Love can kiss you in the face
and slap you in the eye
she walks in bright shadows
her form no one knows

Time cheats us eventually
when by the ferry we bade farewell
she laughs at our inanity
and moves on to better course

NUMB THOUGHTS

Where was you when the crow called?
perhaps lounging in your worm plagued nirvana,
"no more the days of the falconer" they cried
no more the memoirs of the derailed

When the music stopped, we kept on
dancing till our feet got sore
we are bobbed up mind-wise in incertitude
our eyes, veiled of our own volition

if this were a state, an arid it would be
treacherous creatures crawling by
uncertainty would be her pater
and we would have lapsed in gloom

but still we will dance on
rhythm unheard, melody unrefined
we will scour the soul's field
and pray for better days

THE SOUND OF SILENCE

My soul craves a familiar sound
from the womb of creation
a music only in silence found
where the wind sings its notion

there is music in the swirl of the breeze
the genteel lap of oceanus
the subtle dance of the sequoia tree
and the sound of the soul's onus

no dance have my spirit felt
than the ethereal steps of the soundless
its rhythm knows no time bound
its harmony effort less

from where i sit
a vantage of hurling thoughts
i see the world tilt
and i heard a violent echo

but all around me time stood still
in obeisance to mother nature
the violence swallowed in silence's mill
grinding my soul in pleasant torture
